DIY – Kid’s Library

KeepingUpWithePooveys.blog (1)

So this is one of the first projects we did shortly after purchasing our home (almost 4 years ago). We knew we were going to have to figure something out for the girls’ bajillion books. In our old house, we had a huuuuge custom bookshelf that had shelves on each side. I mean HUGE. Therefore it was super heavy. We decided we weren’t going to haul that. Plus it was my mom’s in the first place so we were just going to leave it with the house (it was my mom’s house which my brother lives in now. AND I’m boring you with my life details. Apologies.) Must-Haves at Dance Competitions.

www.keepingupwiththepooveys.blog (2).jpg

So your girl (or boy) is a dancing queen. And you decided they are ready for that next step, competitive dance.

Don’t. Pull her or him out now. Don’t spend another penny. You are going to regret every second.

Just kidding!! Competitive dance is fun!! Expensive, but fun. If you’re wanting to know just how expensive, check out my other blog about the expectations before joining. This blog will be more of after the fact. You’ve joined, now what to bring.

Okay so I wouldn’t call myself an expert dance mom but my girls have been dancing recreational for at least 6 years now. This is our second year in the competitive world so I’m still learning but we have two annual productions at our dance studio that we have been a part of all these years so I had some knowledge of what to expect. What to expect when expecting…to have your child in competitive dance. Part Deux. [& FREE printable!]

What to expect when expecting... (1).jpg

Hi again.

This is the second part of the blog I wrote about the expectancy of putting your dancer in competitive dance. If you haven’t read it yet, do it now here.

This will be more of the extra charges (or other things) that might not be included in your initial meeting before signing that contract and agreeing to competitive dance. I want you to be completely prepared and know what you’re getting into. I’m not trying to scare, but prepare. I want you to be ready. I got you, dance mom.

In my previous blog about what to expect was about the major spendings. You have the monthly charge, the costume charges, and the competition entry fees. I also mentioned that it requires a lot of time. Depending on the age, might not be an issue. You could just drop off the kid and do your thing. It’s usually a weeknight, but still, you can’t really plan to do anything. We do a lot of “We can’t. We have dance.”

In this blog, I’m going to mention more of the extras that you might have not thought about would be included in the competitive world. Continue reading

What to expect when expecting...

Hi there.

You’re thinking of putting your dancer in competitive dance? Great!! I’m here to help.

First of all, and I’m sure you’ve already heard, but expect to spend some moolah. Dance is not cheap and then you add competitive. Wooohh.

If money is not an issue and you just want your girl or boy to have a good time, go for it! It’s a lot of fun. Who cares if they win or lose, right?! They’ll always be winners in our eyes. But money is an issue for me and I actually want to keep my house at the end of the day so if I’m spending the big bucks, you better give it your all and bring mama that trophy!!

Kidding.

The Crown’s Game – Evelyn Skye – Review

Dream Wedding

Well hello there.

This is my first book review! Yay! Bear with me. I don’t know what I’m doing. ๐Ÿ™‚

So why choose The Crown’s Game as a first book review you might ask. Well because I just finished The Crown’s Fate, which is the book 2 of The Crown’s Game so I thought I better review it while it was still fresh in my mind.

So the Crown’s Game was written by Evelyn Skye.

Side note: You know how book readers are like loyal to authors?! And they’re all like, “Oh it’s a Ronald McDonald. It must be good.” Yea, not me. 99% of the time I don’t know the author of the book I’m reading. Maybe that makes me not worthy of reviewing books but all I know is that I love reading and I feel I have a certain genre that I prefer and I don’t care which amazingly creative person developed this in their head, I just read.
